On 28.12.2020, the Edge reported that senior executives of Deleum Primera Sdn Bhd were sued for a sum of RM20 million by the company due to allegations that they had corruptly paid kickbacks to executives of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

What this goes to show is that where corruption is involved, one can get into deep trouble even without any action taken by MACC. The company itself can take action because such corrupt acts would be a breach of one’s fiduciary duty to the company itself.
According to these senior executives who were sued, the parent company being Deleum Bhd was well aware of the kickbacks. One only hopes that these senior executives have enough evidence to back up their defence, otherwise they would truly be in hot soup and perhaps for no good (personal) reason at all.
